FUCK!

I bought a tour(or van, shuttle) from hustle, 400pesos from San cristobal de las casa to Xela.

I googled a lot, know when cross border from Mexico to Guatemala, the customs officers will charge some money for themselves.

They claimed it’s for tax, but actually, we already paid that, it’s including in plane tickets when you arrive Mexico.

So, I followed one blogger’s method. Print my tickets and bring the FFM card to prove that I already paid tax.

When arrived border, driver started to check everyone’s passport, and said you stayed in Mexico over 7 days, so you have to pay 500 pesos. WTF?! Why is a driver check my passport? And why should I pay? Everyone know it’s not official, but don’t want to argue with them or get into some troubles, so just pay it.

When I go inside, took out my passport, plane ticket, FFM card, and said I already call for Taiwan’s embassy and they said no. But the officer shaked his head, say no, with a lot of Spanish I can’t understand. I also show the laws about FFM card on Mexican government’s website. They ignore all I did, kept saying no cell phone, urged me to pay money.

Officers still say no, do nothing with passport and asked me to wait outside.

Fuck!

I discussed with a girl, she asked for receipts, but they said no, so also waited outside. All the tourists in bus(around 15 people) paid, only two of us didn’t.

Then she go inside again, when she walked out, I want to ask if she paid or not. But the driver urged me to go inside. So again, show all documents I have and say taiwan’s embassy say no.

All people waiting for me outside, driver and officer started to threat me “We have no time” “Do you want to come back to mexico?” “You can’t come back now” “500 pesos” “Everyone is waiting for you”

I started to be nurvous and think a lot. “Will the driver just go and leave me in border?” “Can I get working visa next year?” “What will they do to me?”

Then I show my purse only 320 pesos inside. And told them that’s all my money. My friend in Guatemala waiting for me, my money is there. Please let me pass.

Officer took all the money and signed(stamped)gave my passport back.

After I went back to bus, asked that girl she paid or not? She said no!

I realized that even if I didn’t pay, they will let me pass.

What the FUCK! What a big show!

They create the situation made you so nervous, because you don’t know what will they do!

Anyway, just a bad experience, hope someone need this kind of information, that’s why I shared. Don’t pay it anyway, and no necessary to be afraid, they will let you pass in the end.

Next, it’s Guatemala’s customs. They charged for 2US. Compared to 500 pesos, everyone thought it’s nothing ~ so paid.

Guatemala customs is not organized like Mexican’s customs, 3-5 people go inside together , give officer passport, then he signed for every one and returned passport one by one, asked for 2 dollars.

This time, as soon as I got passport, just ran away and went to toilets 😂 No body stopped me! Obviously, it’s still not official.

Suck😡They destroyed my good mood moving to a new country. Sigh, let it go~ Wish my journey safe and happy.
